Annapolis Youth Chorus Holds Spring Auditions
Calling all kids! The Annapolis Youth Chorus (AYC) holds spring-term auditions for the second half of the 2010 concert season on Wednesday, January 13 and 20, in the evenings at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church Parish House in Annapolis. Singers will be asked to sing the first verse of “America the Beautiful” and one prepared piece – a folk song, a Broadway show tune or hymn (singer should provide music for the accompanist or sing unaccompanied). Depending on ability level, they may also be asked to sight-read a simple melodic and/or rhythmic line. Each audition lasts approximately 10 minutes. To schedule an audition or for more information, call 410-263-1906.About the Annapolis Youth Chorus
Now in its ninth season, the Annapolis Youth Chorus is directed by Jill J. Woodward, who teaches music at Indian Creek School. The AYC helps children develop a life-long love of music, while teaching the fundamentals of vocal performance and strong musicianship. The AYC presents two concerts each season, in December and May. In addition, as a division of Live Arts Maryland, directed by J. Ernest Green and home of the Annapolis Chorale, AYC singers perform regularly with the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra and the Chorale. The group has sung for many audiences, from the home crowd at a Bowie Baysox game to Carnegie Hall and, most recently, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for the National Memorial Day Choral Festival under the direction of Dr. Z. Randall Stroope.
