SRLT Invites You to Volunteer and Have Fun as You Preserve our Area’s Best

Get out in the beauty of autumn and volunteer for the Scenic Rivers Land Trust at these projects.   One will put you out in nature.  The other,  I will vouch from my own volunteer experience, will lead to lots of laughs and a little amazement as you fulfill your dreams of tending bar!

South River Greenway Reforestation Project – Sunday, Oct 25
Join SRLT, South River Federation, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to plant over 1,200 trees on 4 acres along the headwaters of Bacon Ridge Branch in the South River Greenway! Holes for the trees will be pre-dug. The planting will take place on Sunday, October 25 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. This important habitat restoration project was made possible by funding from the Chesapeake Bay Trust and Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Families with children welcome with adult supervision.

Renaissance Festival – Sunday, Oct 18

Join SRLT for an interesting day of ye olde beer-slinging at the Maryland Renaissance Festival, Sunday, October 18th, from 9:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., and help us raise funds to support our land conservation efforts. SRLT needs 14 volunteers over the age of 21 to help work the beer and soda booths – per the Festival rules, volunteers must stay the whole day, and they will supply period clothing if you don’t have your own. Proceeds from the Renaissance Festival will be matched by the Biophilia Foundation.
