Evidently, you, the readers of Around Crownsville, have been getting out to hear our local band 8Ohms as they’ve played the local spots like Armadillo’s and the Whiskey. They’re happy to entertain you. I’ve been at a couple of their shows – I don’t want to jinx them, but they have a broad range of [...] Take a relaxed walk through Crownsville on a spring day Weather-wise, last Saturday was pretty miserable. The fine mist coupled with a little wind made for that bone chillin’ cold that takes hours under a warm blanket to shake off. And that’s how you describe the day if you’re not a girls’ lacrosse player or parent of same. For several years I had the pleasure of serving on the board of the Scenic Rivers Land Trust. When I started it was called the Severn River Land Trust. Board members were volunteers. They dedicated their time and gave generously of their expertise and resources to promote its purpose: to protect “land through voluntary methods [...] I grew up on a fairly busy avenue of a mid-sized Midwestern town that shall remain nameless because when I say it, everyone bursts into song. (If you can guess the town, send me an email!) I remember when the city was going to make life better for us by changing out the old incandescent [...] So, get out that container of leftover white rice from the Chinese carryout I’m just not that crazy about the plain white rice that comes with the Chinese carryout we get every now and then. Nothing against my particular carryout vendor — the food is great, I just don’t like the plain rice. I’m not much of a sports reporter. In fact, I think I jut got my first cold in ages at the ICS Girls LAX tournament — great tournament, crummy weather! Anyway — thanks to techology, I’ll be posting links to stories about our young athletes in college and high school. Here are the first ones: [...] Herald Harbor Community Association has just what you need coming up on Saturday, April 4. It’s time for their annual Spring Flea Market and Used Book Sale. Rain or shine, starting at 8:00 a.m. you’ll be able to check out all the treasures and load up on your books for summer reading. |
