About 300 canvasbacks have made the Severn their wintering over spot.
They huddle together in one part of the river, a few mallards, a redhead or two, buffleheads, swans, and Canadas among them, and then, they decide to move to a new spot. One begins to swim and the others fall into line. They swim single file [...]
Francis and Louie have a new sibling from the animal shelter. That means that the gray and white kitten found near Arlington Echo is cat number 4 so he really needs a home. If you would like to adopt him, sweet and litter box trained, send an email to elaine@aroundcrownsville.com. I will forward it to [...]

I went to the first public forum on the General Development Plan (GDP). I found that it is better to think of these forums as an educational opportunity rather than a time to comment in hopes of making significant changes. The Annapolis Chorale and Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of J. Ernest Green, continues its 36th season on Friday and Saturday, February 13-14, at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts with Alan J. Lerner and Frederick Loewe‘s Tony Award-winning “Brigadoon.” This musical tale of two modern hikers who stumble upon the legendary village of Brigadoon, which appears for one day every 100 years, has had several popular runs over the years on the stages of New York and London and was made into a movie starring Gene Kelly in 1954. In this Broadway in Annapolis production, the interwoven stories told through the words and music of Lerner and Loewe benefit from the Chorale’s signature combination of staged play and concert featuring a full orchestra, chorus and soloists/actors including Troy Clark (Tommy), Ashleigh Rabbitt Sekoski (Fiona) and Tom Magette (Charlie). Members of the Annapolis Chorale also appear in supporting roles. Continue reading Annapolis Chorale Presents Brigadoon
The Long Gray Line is an old movie about West Point, but around here this time of the year, the long gray line could well refer to some of our winter visitors. Today as the Severn River came into view, I saw a long line of water fowl swimming with the wind. I had no need [...]
Lost cat Francis returned home– thin, dirty and tired after being gone for two weeks. His owner suspects that he was trapped in a garage or a shed.
I love a happy ending, but now, we need to find a home for kitty found near Arlington Echo. Tell your friends to read here [...]
